Studying Piano Grade Exams
Taking piano grade exams – though not an essential requirement – is an important element of measuring progress. Good results give students confidence and satisfaction and do play a key role in development – particularly with children.
We’re very proud that our students hold a 100% pass rate in all instruments. It should also be noted that many of those students have earned distinctions and merits.
We fully understand all the major exam boards’ requirements, and with our piano teachers’ expertise, and your hard work, you will pass grade exams and progress with us.
However, it’s also vital to our ethos at Bruce Music, that we don’t simply ‘teach to the test’. Of course we’ll help you pass the exams, but we do not sacrifice ensuring you develop musicality, passion for the repertoire and engagement with the piano Bruce Music students pass exams – but become musicians too. This element is frequently neglected.
Our London piano and keyboard lessons also help students down less formal routes. Sometimes students don’t want to study grades, and instead focus on songwriting or music technology for example. We’re equally passionate about helping these students achieve their aims. Our sole aims are that you make progress, and enjoy it!

Piano Lessons London – For All Ages & Abilities
We welcome new piano and keyboard students of any age, any ability, and looking to learn any musical style – our keyboard lessons are for all.
Around half the students who start lessons with us are absolute beginners, who have never played a single note. So don’t be shy!
We are experienced with students from age 3 to 85, with teachers who specialise in teaching particular ability levels or age groups – with all the relevant qualifications and vetting.
